Stay away from conventional wisdom.
There are many doctrines, sayings, and beliefs in the world that seem wise at first, but ultimately turn us away from God.
Exodus 14:12 (ESV) A man may perceive one path as correct, but it ultimately leads to death.
If we follow the wisdom of this world, we will not surrender to God, but rather indulge our appetites. The Bible instructs us to enjoy God’s “life and peace” by “setting the mind on the Spirit.” We must discard our reliance on human reason or understanding of how things operate, which is based on the “teachings” of the world, and replace it with God’s Word.
We shall be able to obey His supreme wisdom in this way.
“The peril of worldly knowledge”
1. Worldly wisdom breeds conflict, violence, and murder. 1–2.
2. Worldly wisdom approaches God from the incorrect perspective.(4)
3. Friendship with the world is the result of worldly understanding. Four (4)
Believers don’t have time for these things; we have learned enough from King David’s life. Don’t let worldly wisdom and idols of this world drive you. It is hazardous and deadly.
